Police reports: 2/05 to 2/14

CHENEY

Feb. 5

Rape was reported on the 500 block of K Street. The alleged victim chose not to pursue charges.

Feb. 7

Domestic violence was reported on the 200 block of South Cheney-Spangle Road—verbal only.

An assault occurred at Cheney High School. A 17-year-old male and 14-year-old female were both arrested for fourth-degree assault.

Domestic violence was reported on the 700 block of West First Street—verbal only.

Kyle W. Woelber, 26, was charged with criminal impersonation of a police officer on the 400 block of North Third Street. The charges were referred to the prosecuting attorney and an arrest was expected within a week.

A report of possible child abuse on the 2200 block of First Street was investigated and judged to be unfounded.

Feb. 8

Niles I. Nicola, 18, was arrested on a felony escape warrant from the Department of Corrections after turning himself in at the Cheney Police Department.

Erika I. Olsen, 19, was arrested at Cheney Municipal Court on a Spokane warrant for failure to appear.

Michael A. Mentzer, 61, was arrested on the 1500 block of Washington Street on a Spokane civil bench warrant.

A two-car non-injury collision occurred on the 500 block of Fifth Street.

A two-car hit and run occurred on the 2700 block of First Street. No injuries were reported.

Feb. 9

Two subjects were taken into custody on the 400 block of Second Street for the Spokane County Sheriff's Office.

A wallet was found on the 300 block of Fifth Street.

Theft of a car stereo and speakers was reported on the 2400 block of University Lane.

Feb. 10

Theft of flashlights and coins from a vehicle was reported on the 800 block of Highland Street.

Theft of a backpack containing books from a vehicle was reported on the 700 block of Golden Hills Drive.

Theft of cash from a vehicle was reported on the 400 block of North Third Street.

Theft of a cell phone was reported at CHS.

Theft of a laptop was reported on the 1000 block of First Street.

Guy S. Heltsley, 22, was arrested on the 500 block of West First Street on a felony warrant out of Whitman County for failure to appear on charges of taking a motor vehicle without owner's permission and a misdemeanor warrant from Kennewick.

A one-car non-injury collision occurred on the 800 block of Second Street.

Feb. 11

Theft of an iPod was reported at CHS.

A window was broken on the 200 block of South Cheney-Spangle Road.

Feb. 12

Theft of a video game and a cell phone was reported on the 200 block of South Cheney-Spangle Road.

Feb. 13

Residential burglary was reported on the 100 block of North Ninth Street.

Domestic violence was reported on the 3100 block of Meadow Glenn Lane —verbal only.

EASTERN WASHINGTON UNIVERSITY POLICE

Feb. 7

A third-degree theft was reported. The access number of a student's Eagle card was obtained. Incident is under investigation.

A non-injury collision was reported at Parking Lot 5 next to the former Reid Elementary School. A motorist backed into another vehicle that was driving in the lot. Minor damage.

University police assisted another agency in a follow to a domestic violence incident involving a female student. The male is a non-student. The female student obtained a no-contact order against the male. University police verified he had received the no-contact order and also issued him a no-trespass letter barring him from coming on campus.

Feb. 10

Officers observed two subjects hiding among trees on the grounds of Showalter Hall. Subjects appeared to have assault-type rifles. When contacted officers determined the weapons were Air-Soft rifles which are not allowed on campus. Subjects were referred to the Office of Student Rights and Responsibilities (OSRR).

Feb. 11

Officers responded to a possible drug violation in Dressler Hall. Marijuana odor was smelled upon entering. No marijuana was found. Two students had been contacted about marijuana before and incident was referred to OSRR.

Officers responded to a possible theft at the University Recreation Center. Student reported items missing from a locker. Items later found in her car.

EWU police cadets performing a safety check in Streeter Hall smelled marijuana odor coming from a room. Officers responded and contacted students. Search warrant was obtained, but nothing was found. Referred to OSRR.

Feb. 13

Officers received a report of a highly intoxicated male in Louise Anderson Hall. Student was underage, arrested for minor in possession of alcohol and the incident was referred to OSRR.

A possible alcohol overdose was reported in Pearce Hall. Officers contacted a female student who was transported to Deaconess Medical Center. Referred to OSRR.

A residential burglary was reported in Dressler Hall. A student's room was entered and vandalized. Damage to the room is estimated at $1,900. Incident is under investigation.

University police responded with Cheney police officers to a report of a domestic violence incident in progress on Meadow Glen Lane. Incident was verbal only and the subject was asked to leave and not return.

MEDICAL LAKE

Feb. 6

Ashton S. Samdstrom, 20, was arrested for driving under the influence at the corner of West 6th Avenue and South Spokane Street.

A motorist was cited for failure to yield that resulted in a two-car collision without injury at the corner of South Pineview Drive and East Stanley Drive.

Feb. 7

A juvenile runaway was reported on the 100 block of South Hallett Street. The boy was later found to be in Wenatchee with his mother, who said she was sending him home.

Feb. 9

An officer took a report of assault at Medical Lake Middle School, where a student was accused of repeatedly hitting another boy with a ruler. No charges were filed.

Feb. 10

Officers responded to the I-90 overpass near Highway 902 where an SUV was reported to have hit a pedestrian before fleeing the scene. The vehicle was not located but an investigation is ongoing.

Police took a report of possible sexual molestation on the 200 block of North Broad Street.

Feb. 11

Officers assisted Airway Heights Police on a disorderly conduct call on the 10300 block of West Highway 2.

Feb. 12

Police responded to I-90 near the Geiger exit where a fistfight was reportedly taking place on the side of the freeway. Officers were unable to locate any vehicles or suspects upon arrival.

Feb. 13

An officer received information at the police station about a possible drug deal that occurred in Medical Lake.

AIRWAY HEIGHTS

Feb. 9

Officer took an informational report about harassment that occurred on the 100 block of North Hayford Road.

Officers took a traffic offense report on the 12000 block of West 14th Avenue.

An adult female was arrested for third-degree driving while license suspended on 12th Avenue and Lundstrom Street.

Officers took an information report regarding dog attack that occurred on the 1900 block of South Lawson Street.

Officers took a dead on arrival report on the 13000 block of West Highway 2.

Feb. 10

An adult male was arrested for third-degree DWLS on Highway 2 and Hayford Road.

An adult female was arrested for third-degree DWLS on Highway 2 and Garfield Road.

An adult male was arrested for possession of a controlled substance at Highway 2 and Hayford Road.

An adult female was arrested for a warrant on the 100 block of North Hayford Road.

Feb. 11

An adult female was arrested for DUI at Highway 2 and Lawson Street.

An adult female was arrested for third-degree DWLS on Highway 2 and Russell Street.

Officers took a report of found property on the 13000 block of West 6th Avenue.

An adult male was arrested for third-degree DWLS at Highway 2 and King Street.

An adult female was arrested for third-degree DWLS at Highway 2 and Campbell Street.

Feb. 12

An adult female was arrested for third-degree DWLS at Highway 2 and Garfield Street.

An adult male was arrested for shoplifting on the 12000 block of West Highway 2.

Officers took a report of a domestic dispute on the 12000 block of West Frank Avenue.

An adult female was arrested for a warrant on the 100 block of North Hayford Road.

Feb. 13

An adult male was arrested for operating a vehicle without an ignition interlock device at Highway 2 and Lundstrom Street.

An adult male was arrested for fourth-degree assault, domestic violence, on the 100 block of North Hayford Road.

Officers took a report of vehicle prowling on the 1000 block of South West Street.

An adult female was arrested for a warrant on the 100 block of North Hayford Road.

Feb. 14

Officers took a report of a traffic accident with damages on Highway 2.
