STA board meetings will be broadcast live starting Jan. 19

CityCable 5, the city of Spokane's local government cable TV station, will air live monthly meetings of the Spokane Transit Authority board beginning Jan. 19.

The STA board is scheduled to issue draft recommendations on bus route service reductions and cuts this month, followed by a public hearing in February and release of a final plan in March. Medical Lake routes 62 and 67 are currently being considered for cutbacks as is route 61, which services Airway Heights and Fairchild Air Force Base. Changes to Cheney routes 65 and 66 are also being discussed by the board.

STA board member and Spokane City Councilwoman Amber Waldref requested live coverage of the meetings, according to the Spokesman-Review.

The STA meetings are held at 5:30 p.m. on the third Wednesday of each month at the Spokane City Council Chambers, Spokane City Hall, 808 West Spokane Falls Boulevard, and are open to the public. STA's meetings board agendas are generally posted at http://www.spokanetransit.com the Friday before each meeting. 

CityCable 5 station also broadcasts live sessions of the Spokane County Commission, Spokane City Council and the Spokane Park Board on a regular basis.
