Renee' Theresa Lucero

Born on April 12, 1934, our little song bird has flown the nest. Renee' Theresa Lucero (Montague) died on Aug. 15.

Renee earned an R.N. and a Bachelors of Education and served many years as a nurse and in the classroom. She married Raul C. Lucero and together they had five children. She tutored children in Australia's outback. She published “Before You Kill Yourself,” an article on suicide prevention that continues to be reprinted to this day. She painted with acrylics and oils, knitted and made dolls. She raised her five children by herself. And she sang every day of her life.

Renee is survived by her siblings Marjorie, Leone, and Richard; children Joseph, Patricia, Julia, and Laura; grandchildren Amanda, Anthony, Alana, Ashley, Bryce, Jessica, Mariah, Caleb, Emily, Joseph, and Haley; and great-grandchildren Gaiven, Tad, Lucas, and Ambrus. She was preceded in death by her son, James--her parents, and her siblings, Shirley and Donald. Take care of her, Lord. It's her turn.

A funeral service will be held at 12 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 19, at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in Cheney.
