John J. Daniels, (CWO4, U.S. Army Ret.) passed away August 3, 2010 in Spokane, Wash. at the age of 86. He was born June 16, 1924 in Madison, Wisc., the son of Raymond and Elizabeth (Baudler) Daniels.
John, a Sergeant in the U.S. Army, served for three years during World War II in special operations finally in Okinawa. He was also a Ready Reserve Officer CWO4 after the war until retirement in 1984. John held a Masters Degree in Hospital Administration from Cardinal Stritch College, now a University. His federal civil service career began after WWII with the Veterans Administration Hospitals as a personnel director included assignments throughout the states. In 1981 he was selected as personnel director of the Navy at their Naval Air Station in Bermuda. In his 80s, John published two books: “Memories of the Great Depression,” his personal memories and “Heaven Sent” with 21 Christian poems.
He will always remain in the minds of his extended family as a good, kind, generous, loving man who valued his service to God, country, and the U.S. Army above all else. His favorite saying was “Hit ‘em high, hit ‘em low, but never let ‘em go.” He lives in our hearts and minds as a good and gentle man.
Mr. Daniels was formerly married to Joan Julayne Domini of Bellevue, Wash. He is survived by his loving wife of 30 years Ritsuko Nancy Daniels of Medical Lake, Wash .; children Gregory Daniels of Montclair, Calif., Cathy Ann Daniels of Bellevue, Wash., Regina Marie (Jeff) Butler of Kent, Wash., Susan Mary (Dan) Martell of Ephrata, Wash. and Michael John (Tatiana) Daniels of Bellevue; step-children Colleen (David) Buotte of Lynnwood, Wash., Michael (Julie) Suhara of Edmonds, Wash. and Steve Suhara of Charleston, SC; 17 grandchildren; and 5 great-grandchildren.
