EWU women claim third, men finish sixth in BSC All-Sports trophy race

The Eastern Washington University women landed among the top three schools in the Big Sky Conference in the 2009-10 All-Sports Trophy standings. The Eagles garnered 75.5 total points, finishing just behind Montana (76.0) and the 2010 BSC All-Sports Trophy winner Sacramento State (88).

Points for the All-Sports Trophy are determined based on a team's finish in the regular-season standings for soccer, volleyball, men's and women's tennis, men's and women's basketball and football, while additional points are awarded based on a team's finish at the Big Sky Championship in men's and women's cross country, men's and women's indoor and outdoor track and field, and golf.

After capturing the regular-season title for the first time in school history, the EWU women's basketball team earned the most points possible for a given sport at 24.

The EWU volleyball and women's soccer teams also made significant contributions, tallying 19.5 and 13 points, respectively. The soccer team was the 2010 BSC regular-season runner up, while volleyball tied for second in the league race.

On the men's side, EWU collected 47 total points to finish sixth in the final All-Sports Trophy standings. The football team was the highest point earner for Eastern.

Combined, the Eagles claimed the No. 4 spot in the overall athletic point standings with 135.5 total points and an 8.75 point average per sport.
