Linda K. Lappen

Linda Lappen, a resident of Pendleton and former resident of Cheney, died Thursday, May 6, 2010 at her home in Pendleton. She was 64 years old.

Memorial funeral services were conducted May 12 in the Burns Mortuary Chapel, Pendleton, Ore. In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorial contributions may be made to the St. Mary Regional Cancer Clinic of Walla Walla, and may be sent care of Burns Mortuary of Pendleton, P.O. Mrs. Lappen was born May 22, 1945 in Spokane, Wash. She was the daughter of Robert and Alice (Piersol) Reitmeier. She was raised and educated near Spokane and graduated from Cheney High School in Cheney with the class of 1963.

After high school she had worked for a time at a drug store, and later at the phone company. She married Melvin Lappen on July 7, 1972 in Coeur d'Alene, Idaho. The family had lived in several locations around Oregon before they settled in Boardman, Ore.

While in Boardman she had worked as an educational assistant for the school district. The family moved to Pendleton in 2004 where she continued working for the Umatilla-Morrow Educational School District until her retirement.

She greatly enjoyed quilting, cooking, and spending time with her family.

She had been a member of the Eagles Lodge #28 of Pendleton.

She is survived by her husband Melvin of Pendleton; one son Ty Lappen of Las Vegas, Nev .; a brother Robert V. Reitmeier of Medical Lake; and three grandchildren; Matthew, Rylee, and Ashlyn Lappen all of Las Vegas. She was preceded in her death by her parents.
