Cheney man injured in bicycle collision with car

A 36-year-old bicyclist was seriously injured last Thursday evening, April 15, when he was stuck by a car about two miles south of Cheney on Cheney-Plaza Road.

Bicycle rider Theodore Chauvin was riding southbound at about 6:15 p.m. in the correct lane of travel when he was struck by a 1997 Kia Sophia driven by 47-year-old William Knight Jr. of Williams Lake.

Chauvin suffered a broken leg and shoulder in the crash and was transported to a hospital in downtown Spokane for treatment. The cyclist was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash.

Spokane County Sheriff deputy Brian Frost said early Friday that Knight is now facing potential infractions for his involvement in the accident.
