New cook in the kitchen

Picnic Pines Restaurant at Silver Lake recently cooked up a fresh menu courtesy of new chef Mark Van Hise, whose culinary experience includes Spokane's Davenport Hotel as well as a two-year cooking stint on a Hawaiian cruise ship. “They used to pull food out of freezers here, now I do everything from scratch,” Van Hise said.
