Mary C. Funge of Medical Lake passed away on Jan. 19 in Spokane at the age of 60. She was born Nov. 6, 1949 in Tampa, Fla. to Fred J. and Roberta L. Funge.
She worked in various positions at Interlake and Lakeland Village. She loved caring for the clients. She retired in March 2000 with 30 years of service.
In retirement she enjoyed shopping at the various flea markets and second hand stores looking for that exclusive deal. She also enjoyed her yard and garden, and cussing the deer for trimming vegetables down to the ground. Her various pets ranged from “Cheater” the Chow, “Manny” the Cocker Spaniel and “Pusser Cat” the love of her life and “Lucy” her fat girl kitty. She also enjoyed the “Bunco Nights” and lunches with the ladies. She had numerous friends, neighbors, and acquaintances she admired and she will be dearly missed by many. She also cared for our mother in the last years of her life with the same zeal as her career path.
She was preceded in death by her father and mother and many aunts and uncles. She is survived by a son Shawn (Keri) and three beautiful grandchildren Gabe, Brittany, and Morgan of Airway Heights. She is survived by four sisters, Marsha (Chuck) Gurzick, Omaha, Nebr., Margo (Tony) Pazos, Oberlin, Ohio, Patricia (Kurt) Filer Columbia Station, Ohio, Marla (Scott) McLaughlin, Seattle, Wash. and two brothers Fred Funge, Newport, Wash., and Richard (Margaret) Funge, Ritzville, Wash. She is also survived by numerous nephews and nieces.
We would like to thank Doctor Mroch for his wonderful care and all of the nurses and staff who cared for her as she treasured many of them. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to Lakeland Village Associates, PO Box 200, Medical Lake, WA 99022.
A memorial will be held on Saturday, Feb. 27, 2010 at the Medical Lake City Hall Auditorium at 124 South Lefevre St. from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.
