Steven K. Hatten

In loving memory and with great sorrow, we announce the passing of Steve, who passed from this life to a life without pain on Jan. 12, 2010.

Steve was born in Coeur d'Alene, Idaho on April 13, 1951. His early years were adventurous, experiencing a number of moves that taught him survival skills. He settled into Thompson Falls, Mont. at the age of 8. At 13, he obtained work as a logger until he volunteered for federal service at the age of 18.

Shortly after his tour of duty ended, his family relocated to Spokane. Steve then worked as a truck driver, where he met his wife, Darlyne, in 1975. They were married in 1977, initially living in North Dakota, and shared six children.

In 1986, the family moved to Cheney, where Steve worked at Keytronics. He enjoyed construction work and worked with a number of contractors. He also enjoyed farming and helped farmers in the area until disabled by kidney failure.

Steve is survived by his wife Darlyne, his son John of Medical Lake, his daughter Kristy of Spokane, his son Wayne of Sprague, his son James of Seattle, his daughter Heidi and son Wally, both of Cheney. He is also survived by his mother Dorothy, his sisters Darylyne and Wendy, his brothers Ron and Rodney (Mike), all of Spokane, and a sister Susan of California.

An informal memorial service will be held at Willow Springs Restaurant, 809 First St., on Saturday, Jan. 23 at 3 p.m. Steve has requested cremation and his ashes will be returned to Montana.
