Russell Lloyd Turner, Jr. passed away Jan. 12, 2010 at the Veterans Hospital in Spokane after a battle with lung cancer. His wife Debi was at his side.
Russ was born March 19, 1947 in Yakima, Wash. to Russell Lloyd Turner, Sr. and Agnes Ardella Voss, the eldest of their seven children.
In 1965 Russ joined the U.S. Navy as a SeaBee. He served a tour of duty in Vietnam. After his honorable discharge from the Navy, Russ earned a degree in English from EWU in 1977. He was the program coordinator for the EWU Learning Skills Center from 1977 until 2000.
Russ married Debi Fies on March 20, 1993 and they were inseparable until his death. Russ was also an avid outdoorsman and loved hunting and fishing.
He is survived by his wife Debi, step-daughter LeTina Trowbridge, daughter Melissa Cole, sisters Sue Jackson and Mary Mitchell, brothers Dan, Gary, Tom and Tim Turner, and numerous nieces and nephews. Russ was preceded in death by his parents and grandparents.
As per his wishes, Russ was cremated and no services will be held.
