Peter David Clark died on the 24th of December 2009 after battling leukemia for over twenty one months. Peter was born at home in Twentynine Palms, Calif. where he lived for 17 years chasing iguanas and roadrunners as a youngster, competing on the swim team, and running track at Twentynine Palms High School. Peter was known as “Dr. Science” for his knowledge of the natural world, and he could “fix” most anything around the house. He loved taking anything apart and making it work again.
His interest in repairing things led to his attending Universal Technical Institute in Glendale, Ariz. Peter received many awards for being the top student of many phases of training. He loved learning about automotive and diesel mechanics.
After graduating from UTI he moved to Yakima, where he was able to put his skills to work and found Clarissa Tudor, the love of his life. They moved to Oregon City after Peter got a job at Freightliner in Portland. Peter and Clarissa became parents while at Oregon City as they were blessed with their two sons, Alex and Matthew. These boys were the joy of Peter's life. He loved being a father and teaching his sons about life.
Most of Peter's family lived in Spokane and he and Clarissa decided to transfer from Portland, Ore. to Spokane. While in Spokane, he was able to purchase twelve acres and he literally built the home he knew he could never have when he lived in Portland.
Spokane seemed the right place for them as their little family prospered. Towards the end of March in 2008 Peter returned from work and felt very weak. He went to Rockwood Clinic in Cheney and had a blood test taken and was told to check into the hospital immediately.
Peter was an eternal optimist as he was always upbeat and constantly had a smile on his face no matter what his circumstances. His family, friends, neighbors, and co-workers knew him for his open heart and willingness to help anyone at anytime.
He is survived by Clarissa, Alex, and Matthew Clark. Peters parents, Clara and Ken, and his brothers and sisters, Lee, Rod, Suzie, and Aaron will live in remembrance of the great son and brother that he was.
The funeral procession and memorial service took place on Wednesday, Dec. 30, 2009.
Peter's funeral procession from Westside Chapel (14408 S. State Route 904), Cheney, to Fairview Cemetery started at 3:30 p.m. and the Memorial Service started at 5 p.m. and was presided over by Pastor Terry Roberts.
Cheney Funeral Chapel handled the arrangements.
