Elmer D. Buob

Elmer Buob, age 82, a longtime Cheney area resident, passed away Dec. 14, 2009 in Spokane after a brief but courageous battle with complications following surgery.

Elmer was born Dec. 6, 1927 in Rosalia, Washington to Howard and Alda (Burt) Buob. He attended Cheney High School and served in the U.S. Army. When he returned home he farmed and ranched with his father, and worked nights at the Nabisco mill in Cheney to earn extra money. Elmer enjoyed hunting and fishing with his friends and continued farming until his retirement.

He is survived by his son Dale (Judy) Buob of Denver, Colo., sister Margie Brown of Sprague, Wash., brother Jerry Buob of Spokane, companion Mary Ann Ward at the home, grandson Aaron Buob of Morristown, N.J., granddaughter Marla and great granddaughter Hannah of Denver, Colo. and many nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his wife Joyce, parents Howard and Alda, and sister Dorothy Flowers. Memorial contributions may be made to the Cheney Care Center, 2219 N. Sixth St., Cheney, WA 99004.

Visitation was held Wednesday, Dec. 16 at the funeral home. A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. on Thursday, December 17, at Cheney Funeral Chapel followed by a reception and burial at Spokane Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
