There's a new face in the stacks at the Cheney Community Library.
Rachel Kennett is settling in as the supervisor of the Cheney branch of the Spokane County Library District.
She said she was enjoying the change of pace after working at the Spokane Valley Library.
“It's a little less busy,” she said. “And you can really tell the people love their library.”
Kennett said she has been able to form relationships with many of the library's regular patrons.
“They take time to get to know me,” she said. “It's more than a business transaction.”
Kennett is in charge of the library staff, building and reference desk. She also conducts a children's story time.
A graduate of Central Valley High School in Spokane, Kennett received her bachelor's degree from Western Washington University in June 2005. She's currently working on her master's degree in library and information science through an online course with San Jose State University, and said her ultimate goal is to become a children's librarian.
For now, though, Kennett said she was happy in her work at the Cheney Library.
