Charles A. Staton, longtime resident of Medical Lake, went to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Nov. 19, 2009 at his home. He was born July 18, 1948 in Butte, Mont. to Charles and Eleanor Staton. Being the son of a pastor and missionary, the family lived in Eastern Washington and Cuba before settling in Medical Lake, where Charles attended school and was a member of the Medical Lake High School class of 1966. He completed his bachelor's degree at Eastern Washington State College in 1971 and served as a teacher at Glover Middle School for 30 years. He also served six years in the Army National Guard and 15 years in the Washington Air National Guard. Charles was a member of the Lake City Assembly of God Church, where his mission was to reach, teach and keep boys for Christ. He believed no man stood so tall as when he stoops to help a child. He valued his God, family and Royal Rangers. Memorial contributions may be made to the Royal Rangers in c/o Lake City Assembly, 400 E. Grace, Medical Lake, WA 99022 He is survived by his wife of 38 years Mary Staton at the home; mother Eleanor Staton of Medical Lake; son Judd (Lisa) of Colorado Springs, Colo.; daughter Alicia (Justin) Wollweber of Edwall, Wash. and his granddaughter, Elle Wollweber. He was preceded in death by his father, Charles H. Staton. Visitation was 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 24 at Cheney Funeral Chapel. A funeral service was held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 25 at the Lake City Assembly of God Church in Medical lake. Burial preceded the service at 10 a.m at the Medical Lake Cemetery.
