Mary Mount

Mary passed away Nov. 13, 2009 in Cheney at the age of 77. Mary was born May 10, 1932 in Letha, Idaho. The family later moved to Marsing, Idaho where Mary met Albert Mount. They were married June 4, 1950. Mary and Albert moved to Medical Lake and then after two or three years moved to Cheney about 1963. 

Mary worked for 28 years as a switchboard operator at Eastern Washington University until her retirement. She loved music and poetry. She filled several notebooks with her poems, including many humorous ones which bring a chuckle or a laugh. 

Mary is survived by her husband Albert Mount, son Bill Mount, 9 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren, two brothers Paul and Melvin Hale, a sister Detta Aspiri and numerous nieces and nephews. 

Mary was preceded in death by her daughter Debbie Ellsworth, parents William and Olive Hale, brother Doane Hale and sister Rhonda Haumann. 

Mary was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints all of her life. Visitation was held at the Cheney Funeral Chapel, 1632 W. First St., Cheney, from 7-8 p.m. Monday, Nov. 16, 2009. Services were held at 10 a.m. at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, 2536 N. Sixth St., Cheney  on Tuesday, Nov. 17. 

In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations be made to the Cheney Care Center Alzheimer's Unit at 2219 N. Sixth St., Cheney, WA  99004 in Mary's memory. Cheney Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
