Martin Hamilton Rogers

Martin “Buddy” Rogers, 65, of Medical Lake, Wash., was born Sept. 23, 1944 in Jacksonville, Fla. After a brief illness, on Nov. 6, 2009, he went to his Heavenly home to join his mother, Mildred E. Rogers, father, Eugene S. Rogers, son, Aaron M. Rogers, sister, Beverly J. Humbert, and brother, James H. Rogers.

He attended Ribault High School, served in the United States Marine Corps, where he traveled the world, then returned to live in the Pacific Northwest. He graduated with his Bachelor of Arts degree from Eastern Washington University and worked for Avista Utilities throughout the Pacific Northwest for 27 years, retiring in 2007. He continued to work part-time for Avista as a dispatcher and as an instructor for their high voltage line school.

Martin was full of energy, loved people and was loved by them in return. He always had a story to tell, and no one could tell a story better. With always something to do and someplace to go, Martin had many friends and family to share these experiences with.

Between jobs after retirement, he and his fiancée, Annie Gibb, spent many happy hours remodeling their home, riding in their pontoon boat, traveling in their motorhome, visiting with family and friends and especially enjoying babysitting granddaughters Madalyn and Danica.

He is survived by family who will dearly miss him: daughters Deborah McCormick (Chad, Madalyn and Danica) of Coeur d'Alene and Rebecca Rogers of San Francisco; their mother, Kathy Rogers of San Diego; sisters Genell Kriner and Margaret Sweat (Wayne) of Jacksonville Beach, Fla.; fiancée, Annie Gibb of Medical Lake; many nieces and nephews, as well as many sorrowful friends, not only in the Pacific Northwest, but across the United States.

A celebration of life will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, Nov. 13, 2009, at Sunrise Church, located at 4718 N. Ash, Spokane, WA 99205. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Sunrise Church or your favorite charity.
