Gary passed away Oct. 19, 2009 in Keizer, Oregon at age 46. He was born on Sept. 18, 1963 in Phoenix, Ariz. He attended schools in Kennewick and Cheney, Wash. before graduating from high school in 1982.
He worked as a plastic molds technician for Key Tronics in Spokane, Plastic Molds Unlimited in Newberg, Ore., Moll Industries in Tualatin, Ore. and he last worked for Pac Tec in Eugene, Ore., where he was able to reset mold machines and their robots to run fast enough that the company was able to end working on weekends. He took great pride in his work.
His hobbies included hunting, fishing and hiking. His passion was fishing for sturgeon. Gary enjoyed visiting ghost towns.
He is survived by his wife Maria of Keizer, Ore.; his mother, Nadine Barrett of Spokane; sister and brother-in-law, Sharlynn and Jeff Rima and nieces Nicole and Selena of Spokane; uncle and aunt Harvey and Ruthie Moore of Albany, Ore.; aunt Donna Able of Spokane and many cousins. He was preceded in death by his father, Robert Barrett and all of his grandparents.
He was loved by his family and will be deeply missed. Memorial contributions may be made to Alcoholics Anonymous or your charity of choice.
A memorial service was held at 1 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 26 at Cheney Funeral Chapel, 1632 W. First St. in Cheney. A reception followed at the Cheney United Methodist Church.
