May 8-10, 15-17 - StageWest Community Theatre will be performing their next production in Cheney at the Emmanuel Lutheran Church, 639 Elm St.
The play is “Love Letters,” by A.R.Gurney, directed by Charles Kenfield, and starring Phil West and Judy Gross. Performance dates: May 8, 9,15 and 16 at 7 p.m., Sundays on May 10 and 17 at 3 p.m. Tickets may be purchased at Cheney Owl Pharmacy, Medical Lake Owl Pharmacy, Cheney Feed and Tack or Bicycle Time, or by calling Mark at 235-4575 to reserve tickets. All tickets cost $10. This play is not appropriate for children under 12. Tickets bought in advance get discounts at several restaurants in Cheney.
May 11 – 1 p.m. The Medical Lake Book Club will review “The Story of Edgar Sawtelle,” by David Wroblewski. It is about a very special boy, an unusual breed of
dogs, and the hardships he faced. Public invited to join discussion and refreshments at the Medical Lake Library, 321 E. Herb St. For more information, contact the library at 893-8330.
May 30 – 9 a.m.-4 p.m. All day free event, open to the public. Historic downtown Cheney (at First and College streets) hosts annual Mayfest and Multicultural Fair. Activities include one-on-one racing down First Street, bike rodeo, community parade, car show, vendors, live music, dance, theater, fashion and more. Downtown Cheney will be closed to traffic all day to accommodate the festivities and events. Multicultural groups from Eastern Washington University and the community will perform. May 13-17 – Various times. EWU Theater presents the family drama, “Three Days of Rain,” written by Richard Greenburg and directed by Sara Goff. Show dates are May 13, 15 and 16 at 7:30 p.m .; May 14 at 5 p.m .; May 17 at 2 p.m. at the campus theater.
