Emmanuel Lutheran Church
Join us for worship this Sunday at 10:30 a.m. as we celebrate the fifth Sunday of Easter. Interim pastor Paul Anderson will preside.
Emmanuel Lutheran is hosting the following events:
StageWest Community Theatre is performing at Emmanuel in the upstairs Fireside Room. The title of this production is “Love Letters,” directed by Charles Kenfield. Play dates are May 8, 9, 10, 15, 16 and 17. Friday and Saturday performances will be at 7 p.m. Sunday performances will be at 3 p.m. Ticket price is $10, and due to adult subject matter, this performance is not child appropriate.
Emmanuel Lutheran Church will host the Eastern Washington University's women's soccer spaghetti feed on Saturday, May 23, in the fellowship hall from 5:30-7 p.m. Ticket price is $25 and all proceeds go to the EWU women's soccer program. For more information please call 359-6045. Please plan to join us as we support our local theatre and sport groups.
Everyone's invited! There's “A Place for You,” on Sunday, May 31 (Pentecost Sunday), right after worship in the fellowship hall. We will participate in activities to experience Jesus' presence at Emmanuel, in our work, and in our play. We will see ways our Christian family is always with us, and how there's always room for one more. It's an intergenerational event for everyone of any age. Come join the fun and learning.

St. Paul's Episcopal Church
All are welcome!
The fifth Sunday of Easter is also Mother's Day, and service is at 11 a.m. Rev. Holladay Sanderson, priest and vicar, will preside and preach. Childcare is available during the service.
The next book for our reading and discussion group is “A New Kind of Christian: A Tale of Two Friends,” by Brian D. McLaren.
A message from Rev. Sanderson: “In this season of transformation, we can come together and ponder the changes that Christianity faces today. Brian McLaren is a primary leader in what is called the “Emerging Church.” The book is an introductory and readable way to explore some of the shifts and changes in which the present church and world finds itself.”
Read ahead and stay posted for meeting schedule.
Wednesday morning fellowship breakfast, 7 a.m. Please join us for good food, discussion and fellowship. All are welcome!
Attention all college students: Every Thursday, gather at the “Holy Grounds Coffeehouse,” PUB Lounge, at 4:30 p.m. to listen to ideas and share discussion, followed by the Eco-Justice dinner (free) at St. Paul's Episcopal Church. These gatherings are facilitated by the Rev. Paul Rodkey, United Ministries at Eastern Washington University.
For your contemplation: “An Easter Prayer: Lord, You have arisen forever in my heart. May the sunrise remind me to shine in Your light. May the cares of a gentle breeze remind me of Your compassion. May the fragrance of a flower remind me to blossom in Your love. May the singing of birds bring a song of joy to my lips. And in the closing of each day, may I remember to quietly pray. Wherever I am, whatever I do may my thoughts in joy return to You.” Amen.
United Church of Christ
On the day before Mother's Day, Saturday, May 9, from 9 a.m. to noon, don't miss the chance to pick up flowering plants, hanging baskets and vegetables for your garden at the annual youth group plant sale in the entry courtyard. Proceed from there into the fellowship hall for a look at the various treasures donated by church members and friends. You know what they say: “One person's clutter is another's treasure.” Among this year's treasures are some very nice furniture pieces for sale. After all that shopping, you'll be ready for refreshment at the men's group barbecue and cookie stand on the north patio. Enjoy!
UCC'ers, please bring donations and help set up for the treasure sale, on Thursday and Friday. Also, remember to turn in all money earned by our kids for the “water hippo” project.
All are welcome to our Sunday worship service held at 10 a.m., at 423 N. Sixth St. Before the service the men's breakfast group will meet in the upper room of the Willow Springs Restaurant at 7:45 a.m. During the service the children from age 3 through eighth grade may stay with their parents to participate through the children's minutes, then go to classes or to childcare in the Christian education building. Being friendly people, we invite everyone to stay and chat during the fellowship hour after church. Some items left from the treasures sale may even still be available for purchase.
Committee chairs, you must send your Annual Report to the secretary ASAP, at least by May 20. Deacons will meet at 7:15 p.m. on Wednesday, May 13.
Please contact the church office or Dorothy Clark if you want to join the church this spring, or if you want to give of your time to participate in the prayer chain.

Joanne Coleman-Campbell will lead both services. Childcare is provided during the worship times. Sunday school classes will meet at 9:45 a.m. This time also provides the opportunity for fellowship.
