A seven-year-old girl was killed about noon Dec. 19, when the Dodge Durango she was riding in slid off Andrus Road and rolled several times.
The victim, Jadyn M. Moss, was ejected from the SUV and died at the scene.
The driver, 31-year-old Sarah L. Maez of Cheney, was taken to a downtown hospital to be checked for injuries, as were her other two daughters, a 9-year-old daughter and 13-month-old.
Maez was treated for possible fractures and the 9-year-old had a possible shoulder injury.
Initial investigation by sheriff's traffic detectives indicated Maez was northbound in the 10600 block of Andrus when she lost control of the Durango as it was in a downhill curve to the right.
The SUV went sideways in the roadway and left the north shoulder and rolled through several small trees. It came to rest on its roof in a pasture.
The investigators at the scene said there were child restraint seats inside of the Durango, but it was still unclear if they were in use at the time of the incident.
Road conditions on Wednesday were a mixture of bare and wet or slushy at the time of the crash.
Mixed rain and snow was falling at the time.
Andrus Road is a paved Spokane County roadway that has a 45 mph speed limit.
The investigation is ongoing.
