Terrace Heights residents now have a storage facility for extra belongings or even an RV.
With new housing developments popping up, especially in the Windsor Elementary School area, new businesses shortly follow. They're particularly convenient if they're just down the road.
Locally owned Terrace Heights Storage is still under development but is currently taking renters.
The all-steel structures have been completed and are functional.
The only thing left is finishing the asphalt and installing the fencing. Owner Brion Beaver said the fencing would be installed by the end of the week.
Of the asphalt, Beaver said he is following the contractor's direction of waiting until warmer weather before completing it. Otherwise he is ready for business.
“I look forward to serving this area,” Beaver said.
The new 108-unit facility will have limited access, but access will be available seven days a week. Renters will be able to enter the premises during business hours via keypad while an office attendant is present.
There will be no live-in manager.
Beaver, a Spangle, Wash., resident, said to discourage theft and unwelcome intruders; he will also have video surveillance at the entrance and around the perimeter of the lot.
With nine years in the rental business, he describes the facility as simple storage.
The size of storage units he offers, start at 5 feet by 10 feet and go up to 16 feet by 40 feet.
Renters will have a choice between lighted or non-lighted units. He said half of the units have lights. None of the units are heated or have outlets.
He also offers uncovered slots for vehicle storage. As a stipulation for parking storage, he asks that renter bring a copy of the title of the vehicle being stored. The reason for this is because of abandonment.
“People bring a vehicle here, and then they quit paying rent on it because they don't want it anymore.
Then I have to get rid of it,” Beaver said. He added having a copy of the title eases that process.
Units may be rented on a month-to-month basis or renters may sign a long-term lease. Those signing a lease will get a better price. Beaver said there is no deposit required.
Military personnel and senior citizens will get a discount, although Beaver is uncertain how much that will be.
Another discount Beaver is currently offering is a move-in special. He said he would take half off the first month's rent.
To find Terrace Heights Storage, Beaver said take the Medical Lake exit, turn south and go past the Petro station to the stop sign.
Turn left and proceed about one mile and turn left again on Thomas Mallen Road. The facility is located at 5704 S. Thomas Mallen Road, Spokane, Wash.
Beaver said he could be reached at 456-3677, 590-0397 or 533-2840.
