Spokane County is considering a location in Cheney, along with nine other county sites, for a new jail to be built by the time the Geiger Corrections Center lease expires in 2013.
In the first of several public information meetings presented by Lt. Michael Sparber of the Spokane County Corrections Department, the site in Cheney would be a 97-acre plot southeast of the city on Anderson Road.
There were 13 sites under consideration.
