Myers fined $369,000 for fire violations

Spokane County District Court Commissioner Brad Chinn has fined Cheney mobile home park owner Thomas Myers $369,000 for violations of the state's 1994 and 1997 fire codes.

Chinn granted the city's motion to impose penalties on Myers for failing to provide adequate fire suppression means, also listed under chapter 19 of the city's municipal code. Chinn's decision came Nov. 16.

Myers was ordered in May 2001 by the Cheney Fire Code Board of Appeals to provide three additional fire hydrants to meet those needs.
