The Medical Lake Baseball/Softball Boosters Association is holding its monthly meeting on Wednesday, Nov. 14 at 6:30 p.m. at the Medical Lake High School library. Everyone is welcome to attend.
Cheney Boy Scouts food drive starts
The Boy Scouts will be dropping off bags on Cheney residents' doorsteps this Saturday, Nov. 3, beginning at 9 a.m. as part of their annual food drive. Scouts will return next Saturday, Nov. 10, starting at the same time to pickup bags.
Scouts will either pick up the bags or ring doorbells requesting donations to the food bank. All donations collected in Cheney remain in Cheney. Donations can be non-perishable foods in non-glass containers. Personal canned goods cannot be accepted.
Cash and checks are accepted, and checks need to be made out to the Cheney Food Bank.
Cattlemen's dinner and auction Dec. 8
Please support West Plains' youth by attending the annual Spokane County Cattlemen's Dinner and Auction Saturday, Dec. 8, at the Spokane Airport Ramada Inn, 8909 Airport Drive.
The hospitality room opens at 4 p.m., with the dinner taking place at 6 p.m. and the auction to follow. Afterwards there will be live music from 8-11 p.m.
The cost for the dinner and auction is $25 per person, and rooms are available at a reduced rated of $68, but must be reserved by Nov. 28. Please mention code number CATT when reserving. For more information call 979, 5926 or 994-8051.
St. John's holiday bazaar this weekend
St. John's Lutheran Church is gearing up for its 2007 Bazaar and Rummage Sale at 223 S. Hallett St., Medical Lake, on Friday, Nov. 2 and Saturday, Nov. 3 from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. each day.
There will be lots of craft items, baked goods, homemade sausage, apple cider, and lefse for sale in the church. The rummage sale will be in Parish Hall. Lunch and supper will be served both days with take-out available.
St. John's quilting group, Rags to Riches, made two quilts for the raffle and tickets are available now. Call 299-6615, or 299-4114 for more information or quilt raffle tickets.
Mental health screenings offered Nov. 3
Community Health Education and Resources will sponsor a free mental health screening on Saturday, Nov. 3, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Sacred Heart Mother Gamelin Center in Spokane. Mental health professionals will provide confidential screenings for depression, bipolar disorder, post-traumatic stress disorder and anxiety disorder. Registration is required.
