Pathways to Progress, dedicated to the revitalization of historic downtown Cheney, announces the opening of general membership for 2008. Any person, family, organization or business can join; Cheney residency is not required to be a member.
The director of Pathways to Progress, Charlie Dotson, said, “What a great time to be part of the team as Pathways to Progress begins its tenth year of service to the citizens of Cheney.”
Using the classic Main StreetTM model for downtown enhancement developed by the National Trust for Historic Preservation, Pathways to Progress attracts new business to Cheney's central core (five new businesses opened, or are soon to open this year), supports current downtown businesses, promotes physical improvements to storefronts (provided $3,000 in assistance grants to businesses), sponsors numerous festivals and community celebrations (Rodeo Days, Winter Festival, Multicultural Festival), and, of course, brings the Friday Farmers' Market to downtown Cheney every summer.
A wide variety of membership levels are available for both individuals and businesses to reflect your own interest in Cheney's future. Business members may be eligible for a Washington State Business and Occupation tax credit; make sure to ask about this program before signing-up. Pathways to Progress is a non-profit organization recognized by the Internal Revenue Service. Membership contributions are tax deductible.
Application forms can be obtained by contacting the Pathways to Progress office by phone at 559-5818 or e-mail at http://[email protected].
