On Oct. 1, Airway Heights Planning Commission members unanimously passed the city's first critical areas ordinance (CAO) per request of the state Growth Management Act (GMA) recognizing several ecologically sensitive areas within the city limits.
Approval of the ordinance is the first step in compliance with the GMA, adopted by the state Legislature in 1990.
