Cemetery association meeting Oct. 19

The Cheney Cemetery Association's annual meeting is Friday, Oct. 19, at noon at the Methodist Church, corner of Fourth and G streets.

Besides reviewing the past year, the association will look forward with a possible presentation on the proposed Eastern Washington State Veterans Cemetery, and how to preserve the “Burying Ground” located southeast of Cheney on Pine Grove Road. The Burying Ground previously contained close to 100 graves, mostly Native Americans.

Lunch will be served at the meeting, with a $5 donation to cover expenses appreciated. Please RSVP by Oct. 17 by calling 235-4987 or 235-4453.
