Hot weather and very dry conditions have led Spokane County officials to declare a 60-day burning ban, effective last Friday, July 13.
Spokane County Building Official Jim Manson, who is also the county's Fire Marshal, ordered the ban, which prohibits open burning and recreational fires within unincorporated areas of the county. The ban does not include use of backyard barbecues, chimneas and other patio/deck warmers as long as approved fuel sources like seasoned wood, briquettes or propane are used.
