CHENEY

June 8

Jeremy A. Titus, 21, was arrested on the 700 block of Fourth Street for driving under the influence (DUI).

A third-degree theft was reported on the 1700 block of Second Street. A potted plant was taken from Rosa's Pizza.

June 7

A trespass was reported on the 500 block of Alki. Police arrested Nicholas L. Rapier, 18, for trespass and possession of drug paraphernalia, along with Peter H. Olmsted, 19, Victor L. Myers, 20, Nicholas F. Moffit, 19, and Emily J. Dietrich for trespassing.

A suicide attempt was reported on the zero hundred block of Third Street.

A second-degree theft was reported on the 400 block of West First Street. Some frozen food was stolen from a parked Schwann's truck.

Obscene phone calls were reported on the 600 block of Villard.

A hit-and-run collision was reported on the 200 block of Simpson Parkway. Damage done to a car.

A 17-year-old male was arrested on the 2200 block of First Street on traffic warrants issued by an outside agency.

Edward A. Saner, 21, was arrested on a court commitment for DUI at Cheney Municipal Court.

June 6

Toby J. Fix, 28, was arrested on the 2700 block of First Street for indecent liberties.

A fourth-degree assault was reported at 12 Columbia. Information only.

An identification theft was reported on the 100 block of Anderson Road. Information only.

A vicious animal was reported on the 3000 block of Silverthorn. Two dogs left their yard and attacked another dog. The incident was referred to the animal control officer, and the owner of the two dogs was issued two citations for each dog of dog at large and a threatening animal.

A third-degree theft was reported on the 1200 block of First Street. A stroller was taken and recovered. Police arrested Kayletta M. Olbricht, 20, for third-degree theft.

A second-degree burglary was reported on the 1300 block of Third Street. Cash and rolled coins were taken. No forced entry. Charges are pending investigation.

A fourth-degree assault was reported on the 300 block of North Seventh Street. Incident was a case of school kid on school kid, and is being handled internally by the school.

A charge of harassment was reported on the 1300 block of Second Street. Information only. Altercation was an ongoing argument between apartment building neighbors.

A domestic violence was reported on the 200 block of Betz Road. Information only.

Trevor S. Skinner, 35, was arrested on the 1100 block of Second Street for DUI.

June 5

A trespass was reported on the 100 block of North Eighth Street. Incident started as a malicious mischief. Officer and made contact with the individuals, which turned out to be three juveniles on the roofs of the military housing. Officials at Fairchild Air Force Base were contacted, and

declined to press charges.

An incident of child abuse/neglect was reported on the 1600 block of Second Street. A 1-year-old baby in diapers was seen walking around outside, and appeared to be cold. The child had apparently opened the front door while the mother was doing laundry.

A harassment incident was reported on the 500 block of First Street. Turned out to be an argument between ex-boyfriend and ex-girlfriend.

A vicious animal was reported on the 100 block of Holladay. A child was bitten. Dog was deemed potentially dangerous, but not at large. Charges pending per hearing of animal control board.

A two-car, non-injury collision was reported on the 800 block of Sixth Street. A failure to yield citation was issued to one of the drivers.

June 4

A burglary was reported on the 1800 block of Third Street. A bicycle was stolen from inside an attached garage. Break-in occurred in May, but the owner had to leave town before officers could speak with him.

A stolen vehicle, a red Chevy S10 pickup truck, was recovered on the 2300 block of University Lane. Vehicle was reported stolen from Spokane County. Family member took the vehicle, no charges filed.

A taking a motor vehicle without the owner's permission was reported on the 200 block of Betz Road. A white, Plymouth Breeze was taken.

A hit-and-run collision was reported on the 600 block of Irene. Vehicle was struck while the owner was leaving a party at Third and Elm.

A second-degree theft was reported on the 300 block of College Avenue. A credit card was taken.

A second-degree theft was reported on the 2700 block of Al Ogdon Way. A CD receiver was taken from a vehicle.

A third-degree theft was reported on the 200 block of Betz Road. A CD case and faceplate were taken from a vehicle.

A second-degree theft was reported on the 200 block of Betz Road. Credit cards, a billfold, cash, camera and cell phone were taken from a vehicle.

June 3

Patrick J. Portzen, 33, was arrested on the 800 block of Second Street for DUI and resisting arrest.

A 16-year-old male was arrested on the 100 block of Holladay for fourth-degree assault/domestic violence.

June 2

A bicycle was found on the 2600 block of North Sixth Street.

A taking a motor vehicle without owner's permission was reported on the 1600 block of Third Street. A maroon Toyota Corolla was taken.

A liquor violation was reported on the 700 block of Sixth Street. Michael D. Romesburg, 22, was arrested for having an open container in public and obstructing.

A fourth-degree assault was reported on the 300 block of First Street at The Basement. Altercation was between two suspects and one victim. Sent to prosecutor's office for review.

Talaalemotu N. Tuupo, 20, was arrested on the 1000 block of Third Street for minor in possession (MIP).

Brianne A. Dumke, 19, was arrested on the 300 block of B Street for MIP.

A hit-and-run collision was reported on the 100 block of Third Street.

June 1

A two-car, non-injury collision was reported on the 600 block of Fifth Street. A failure to yield citation was issued to one of the drivers.

A two-car, non-injury collision was reported on the 500 block of Fifth Street. A vehicle was improperly parked, slipped out of gear, and rolled downhill, striking a second vehicle. The owner of the first vehicle was cited for improper parking.

Amanda L. Lucas, 19, was arrested on the 2800 block of Eton for MIP.

A suspicious circumstance was reported on the 3000 block of First Street. A married couple, who had been taking care of the wife's aunt diagnosed with dementia, split up. The couple was handling the aunt's financial affairs, and suspicious activity on her account was reported. No evidence of fraud can be currently shown.

A weapon on school property was reported at the Cheney Middle School. A substitute teacher parked his vehicle under a tree to protect his two dogs inside the car while he taught. Another teacher approached the vehicle to pet the dogs, which were friendly, and noticed a gun under the seat. Vehicle owner claimed he had forgotten the gun was in the vehicle.

A two-car, minor-injury accident was reported at the intersection of First Street and Cheney-Spokane Road. After the light turned green, vehicle one entered the intersection and then stopped to allow a bicyclist to cross. Vehicle two then struck vehicle one from behind. Driver of vehicle two was cited for following too closely.

A car-pedestrian accident was reported on Betz Road. Two pedestrians were crossing from Silverthorn going to Safeway as two vehicles approached. The driver of the first vehicle saw the pedestrians and stopped to allow them to cross. The second vehicle did not, and struck the pedestrians. Minor injuries received by the pedestrians.
