• Caitlin McDowell graduated on May 12 from Montana Tech of the University of Montana. She received a bachelor of science degree in safety and health engineering. She is moving to Modesto, Calif. to take the position of safety coordinator for Granite Construction.
McDowell is the daughter of Tim and Susan McDowell of Medical Lake, the granddaughter of Fred and Barbara McDowell of Cheney, and the granddaughter of Dick and June Rychalski of Helena, Montana.
She graduated in 2003 from Medical Lake High School.
• The Eastern Washington campus of the University of Phoenix has awarded 62 degrees to its second graduating class at a commencement ceremony held May 5 at the Spokane Convention Center.
The following Cheney residents are part of the graduating class: Amie Renee Frederick – Bachelor of Science, Business Management, Jacob Patrick Sordelet – Bachelor of Science, Business Management.
The following Medical Lake resident is part of the graduating class: Lorri L. Kirstein – Bachelor of Science, Business Management.
