The current city code doesn't have separate regulations for resident and commercial zones when it comes to these, and other types of land use. Edward John Betz, 76, passed away Dec. 19, 2007, at Hospice House in Spokane following a lengthy illness. He was born to John and Della Betz on May 12, 1931, in Tyler, Wash. Betz attended Tyler school through the eighth grade and graduated from Cheney High School, class of 1949. Like all farm boys, he helped his parents on their farm. A seven-year-old girl was killed about noon Dec. 19, when the Dodge Durango she was riding in slid off Andrus Road and rolled several times. The victim, Jadyn M. Moss, was ejected from the SUV and died at the scene. The driver, 31-year-old Sarah L. Maez of Cheney, was taken to a downtown hospital to be checked for injuries, as were her other two daughters, a 9-year-old daughter and 13-month-old.
