    CHENEY – Several local girls from the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints 1st Ward are helping mothers and babies at Vanessa Behan Crisis Nursery in Spokane. The girls have helped with poster design, made collection boxes and posted fliers. On Saturday, Dec. 4, they conducted a drive-through and drop off donation drive, offering hot chocolate and cookies to participants.     CHENEY -- West Plains Boy Scout Troop No. 356 is selling Christmas trees and wreaths again this year. "This year business has been great," troop Secretary Kristin Weaver Bowman said. "I was shocked to see how few trees we had after a week of sales."     AIRWAY HEIGHTS – Residents were able to join in the festive community activities, as Airway Heights Parks and Recreation kicked off “Winterfest 2021” with a tree lighting and fireworks show the evening on December 3 at Sunset Park.     CHENEY — The Speakeasy restaurant hosted its first free Thanksgiving dinner for the community Thursday, Nov. 25. The dinner, held to honor the local police and fire personnel, consisted of turkey, stuffing, mashed potatoes and gravy, salad, and pumpkin pie.     MEDICAL LAKE – The local food bank handed out 326 meals to indigent residents Nov. 23. Director Terri Worl said families received a turkey along with a large box of canned foods and other Thanksgiving favorites. Recipients lining up at 207 S.
