On Nov. 8 voters in Washington approved Initiative 1433, authorizing a gradual raising of the state’s minimum wage. Voters favored the measure by a 57.4 to 42.6 percent and it becomes law Jan. 1, 2017. Initiative 1433 was designed to increase the minimum wage from $9.47 in 2016 to 11.00 in 2017, $11.50 in 2018, $12.00 in 2019, and $13.50 in 2020. The Medical Lake School District maintenance staff is going to have a new place to put their equipment.
