    EWU’s Reiter gears up for NCAA cross country championships Eastern Washington University junior Sarah Reiter will be the newest athlete to be added to the Eastern Washington University cross country team’s list of participants at the NCAA Division I Cross Country Championships, as she races in Louisville, Ky., Saturday, Nov. 21. Reiter will race the 6,000 meter course at the E.P ‘Tom’ Sawyer State Park. During the West Regional Championships in Seattle, Reiter placed ninth overall with a time of 20 minutes, 53.9 seconds...

    Week 8 of the 2015 Cheney Free Press football contest saw its first repeat winner as Phil Conrath of Rocky Point, Idaho was victorious in a tiebreaker and earned a $50 merchant’s gift certificate. Conrath, who missed five games, topped Matt Mittelstaedt from Cheney who won a $20 Owl Drug gift certificate. In all, five players tied for the top spot.     The Eastern Washington University women’s basketball team exploded for 25 first-quarter points and never looked back, using stifling defense to defeat visiting Air Force, 65-44, Nov. 15 at Reese Court.     It’s one thing to capture a state championship in an event, it’s something else to win it two years in a row. Cheney High’s swimmer Makenzie Norman accomplished that feat at the 2A-1A state championships, Nov. 13-14, the Weyerhaeuser King County Aquatic Center in Federal Way, Wash. She won her second state title in the 100-yard freestyle in 52.74 seconds. She also won her first 50 freestyle championship in 24.72.
