Jerry Dale Jones, 68, passed away at Sacred Heart Medical Center in Spokane on Oct. 31, 2018. By his side was his loving wife Kristy, children and grandchildren. Jerry was preceded in death by his parents, Donald and Ruth Jones. Jerry was born in Miami, Ariz. on March 22, 1950. He moved to Medical Lake in 1967, and then moved to Harrington and completed high school in 1968. Jerry was married to his loving wife of 42 years in 1976 in Coeur d'Alene, Idaho. Elmo L. Bartlett passed away Nov. 2 at the Cheney Care Center, five days short of his 94th birthday. Elmo (Bart) was born in Waitsburg, Wash., Nov. 7, 1924 the second son of Blake and Alta Bartlett. He grew up with four brothers in neighboring Pomeroy. In 1943 after graduating Pomeroy High School, Bart joined the U.S. Army Air Force. He served as a gunner in Boeing B-17s and flew more than 25 missions in the European theater. He was on his way to the Pacific when WWII ended....

Most Eagle Scout projects take place in one location. Cheney Boy Scout Gabe Gerber's took place in two - one at each end of the city. Gerber led the construction of Cheney's first disc golf course, a course that spans two city parks: Hagelin in north Cheney next to the city's pool and Betz Elementary School and Salnave Park in the south. It may not have been a team appearance, but Cheney’s cross country runners made a good appearance as solo acts at the 2A state cross country meet last Saturday at Pasco’s Sun Willow Golf Course.
