    The Medical Lake School Board breezed through a short agenda at its Oct. 27 meeting. The board approved a resolution to increase Medical Lake High School’s Associated Student Body imprest account — petty cash system — balance by $300. This increased the account’s current balance from $4,500 to $4,800. Superintendent Tim Ames explained the imprest account has an insufficient balance only six cash boxes and cashiers do not have enough change on them when customers pay admission to attend events.     Three Medical Lake Middle School sixth graders have taken it upon themselves to save endangered wildlife. Audrey Stigall, Brianna Fisher and Kylie Pepperman have started two GoFundMe pages in October to help raise money for efforts to help animals on water and land.   • Cheney School District discusses hires, substitutes

    Associate Superintendent Sean Dotson gave an update of the hiring situation in the Cheney School District at the Oct. 28 board meeting. Dotson said certified staff went up from 301 to 327 full-time equivalent employees, which has been factored into the budget. He said there were 21 staff members who resigned, retired or moved into different positions last year. “It was impressive, we brought in some great people,” Dotson said.
