    CHENEY — Eastern Washington University Athletics announced the return of men’s golf as a varsity program. The team will begin competition during the 2025-26 academic year. The Eagle men’s team made their debut at the NAIA level in the 1960s before playing in NCAA Division II in the 80s.     AIRWAY HEIGHTS — A fundraising effort to provide money for field improvements for the West Plains Little League is still underway. The effort has come close to reaching its $8,000 goal, officials said. But there is still time to help them do so. West Plains Little League currently has a 50/50 raffle underway to raise money.     Motorists in Washington state are sometimes handing over hundreds of dollars for licensing of their vehicle, but only receiving paper plates in return. According to an Aug. 28 legislative report, the state is had a backlog of at least 230,000 standard license plate orders, 10,000 specialty orders and 5,000 personal vanity orders.     The Cheney School District’s meal program is providing over 22,700 meals each week across its schools, according to Finance Director Jamie Reed’s report during the Oct. 9 board meeting.
