Switch replacement work taking place Saturday, Oct. 17, in north Cheney will result in some scheduled power outages to a good portion of that section of the city. Cheney’s Light Department will be replacing the switch and cabinet located at the southwest corner of the intersection of Betz Road and North Sixth Street. The switch was damaged last winter when a vehicle failed to negotiate the left-hand turn off Betz and, due to icy conditions, slid into the cabinet, causing a power outage. The Light Department will begin r...

They then got a Geiger goal in their lone Northeast A League outing of the week, a 4-1 loss at Colville (1-6, 1-7), last Thursday, Oct. 8. Geige...

It was seen as Medical Lake’s best chance to earn its first football win of the 2015 season. For 47 minutes and 40 seconds the Cardinals had Friday’s road game at Newport within their grasp and a happy bus ride home. But the Grizzlies completed a rally from a 21-0 deficit, helped by inopportune penalties, and scored a 34-33 Northeast A League victory on Homecoming. Medical Lake never relinquished the lead until those final seconds. Otis Smith’s 1-yard run with 20 secon...

The Seattle Mariners are gearing up for 2016 and they are going to have to do it without manager Lloyd McClendon. The team announced McClendon’s release on Friday, Oct. 9. This came less than two weeks after Seattle hired former Anaheim Angels general manager Jerry Dipoto as the team’s new GM, replacing Jack Zduriencik, who was fired in August. McClendon accumulated a 163-161 record during his two-year stint with the Mariners, becoming only the second manager to have a winning record in the franchise’s history. The other...
