    In its first meeting of the academic year, the Eastern Washington University board of trustees voted to elect vice-chair Jim Murphy to chair. Murphy succeeds former chair Jo Ann Kauffman, whose term on the board expired Sept. 30. Kauffman’s first appointment to the board was in 2003. She also served as chair from 2008-10.
