    Cheney Middle School was the site of a threat of violence that was found on a stall wall in one of the girls' bathrooms on Monday, Sept. 23. According to Cheney Police Department Capt. Rick Beghtol, a sixth-grade girl found writing on the wall around 12:25 p.m. stating "Next school shooting 9/23 or 9/24," with the numbers 4/20 written beneath but scratched out.     CHENEY -- The Blackhawks football team hosts the undefeated Cashmere Bulldogs tonight. Gametime is 7 p.m. at the school, 460 N. Sixth St. Cashmere (3-0) rolls into town after routing Wapato, 55-21, last week. The host Blackhawks, 2-1, are coming off a heartbreaking, 24-21, loss last week to Shadle Park.     Cheney High’s girls swimming team took on a monumental task last weekend – competing in back to back meets against some tough opponents. The Blackhawks hosted 2A Lindbergh High from Renton at the Eastern Washington University pool on Friday, Sept. 20, falling 89-81 in close competition with the South Puget Sound League Eagles. Jade Gere led Cheney with a pair of state-qualifying times. Gere won the 200-yard freestyle and the 500 freestyle with times of 2 minutes, 6 seconds and 5:44.21.     Cheney High’s first slow pitch softball win in its inaugural season is proving elusive. The Lady Blackhawks suffered three more defeats and play last week. Cheney was shutout 15-0 by 4A powerhouse Central Valley last Tuesday, Sept. 17, managing just four hits against the visitors from Spokane Valley in the five-inning game.     The Medical Lake cross country team’s trip to Wenatchee last Saturday proved to be a successful one. The Cardinals varsity and junior varsity boys brought home first-place team finishes from the Wenatchee Invitational while the girls placed fifth in the varsity competition at Walla Walla Point Park.     The owner of a trailer was awakened in the worst possible way on Thursday, Sept. 19, when the travel trailer caught fire while she was napping.
