Covington Construction scored a 9-6 West Plains Little League AAA baseball victory over Waste Management, June 4 at Waterfront Park in Medical Lake. Cheney High School’s Tyler Koohns and Cheyenne Marchand ended their season at the 2A Golf State championships, May 27-28. Marchand finished 19th out of 40, shooting a combined 177 over both rounds. This is an improvement from last year’s state tournament where she finished 22nd and shot a 195. Medical Lake’s Hannah Hartman reached the state 1A golf tournament at Sun Willows Golf Course in Pasco with a combined score of bi-district and districts of 192. The Cheney Summerhawks 15U baseball team is preparing for a change of scenery. Unlike Cheney’s 17U team, which plays an independent schedule this summer, the 15U squad will compete in the Spokane Indians Youth Baseball League. The UFC has taken a big step in addressing the recent string of high-profile failed drug tests from fighters that happened in the last year. At a June 3 press conference, they announced a partnership with the USADA (United States Anti-Doping Agency). The West Plains Bandits softball team began their 2015 summer campaign by competing in the North Idaho (NI) Xtreme Tournament May 29-31 in Coeur d’Alene.
