On Monday, July 11 Medical Lake will host Cheney in a 7:30 p.m. game where the field will be officially dedicated. “It's a radio home game and we're going to have an Avista dedication night,” Medical Lake coach Kerry Kelly said. By JOHN McCALLUM Editor Like their Double A counterparts Cheney's Single A American Legion baseball team has opened their 2011 schedule with a 2-1 record. The Summer Hawks opened play last Wednesday, June 8 with a 3-0 win over the visiting Coeur d'Alene Jacks. Saturday they split a doubleheader at Central Valley, losing the opener 12-3 but taking the nightcap 12-4. Tyler Smith got the win on the mound Wednesday against the Jacks, contributing offensively along with Jacob Christianson and Josh Arthur. All three had RBIs.... Full story
