    The Cheney High School softball team dropped a pair of non-league games last week to some pretty good opponents. The Lady Blackhawks traveled to the Tri-Cities to face 3A Kamiakin High School on March 26, falling 13-6 to the Braves.     The Cheney boys soccer team maintained its momentum this week, earning two victories in rapid succession against East Valley and Mount Spokane. In a March 28 Great Northern League game, the Blackhawks defeated the the Knights (2-4, 0-1) 2-1 thanks to an aggressive offense.     The Great Northern League hosted its first golf tournament on March 28, with the Cheney girls team playing at the Quail Ridge Golf Course and the boys playing at Clarkston Country Club. The Cheney boys took fifth in the tournament, behind first-place Clarkston, second-place Pullman, third-place West Valley and fourth-place East Valley.     Cheney High School’s baseball team continues to cruise through its so far abbreviated season. The Blackhawks had little trouble with East Valley in their only game last week. Cheney was up 9-3 heading into the sixth inning in the March 26 game when head coach Rob Beamer issued a challenge to his players. “I said, ‘hey, let’s get four (runs) and hold them so we can go home early,” Beamer said. “We just took off.
