CHENEY -- Water Department crews have made a successful repair of a water leak that happened yesterday, Feb. 19, near Garden Manor Apartments. Public Works Director Todd Ableman said a "sizeable leak" was discovered beneath State Route 904 / 1st Street at the entrance to complex. The lead in the 12-inch PVC water main was disgorging approximately 300 gallons per minute into the ground. FAIRCHILD AFB -- A suspicious package found this morning at Fairchild Air Force Base's gate on Rambo Road was determined to be nothing of importance, base officials said. According to a public affairs spokeswoman, security forces at the gate found the package while doing vehicle checks around 8:45 a.m. All traffic was shutdown and a 1,000 foot cordon was set up around the gate.
