    RITZVILLE - 45th annual Mennonite Country Auction raised more than $130,000 dollars for the Mennonite Central Committee, Oct. 1. Other than operating funds retained for next year’s auction, the total amount raised goes to the Mennonite Central Committee.     CHENEY – This year’s fire-fighter training program for Fire District 3 began at the fire station on Presley Dr. Oct 6. Called “Day-training” the program affords training opportunities to the entire district, the largest by area in Spokane County at 570 square miles.     CHENEY – During the Sept. 28 School Board meeting, Superintendent Ben Ferney reported that the Student Access and Safety Program at Cheney High School is going well.     CHENEY – Eastern Washington crime logs indicate a second rape report was filed with Title IX at Eastern Washington University. Oct. 12. Owner Allan Gainer cites economic shifts such as inflation and a reduction in expendable income as factors in his decision to close the business.
