    Cheney High’s girls golf team placed third at the fourth Great Northern League tournament with 147 points on May 3. West Valley took first with 227. Using the Stableford scoring system, Katarina Ljubisic tied for second overall with 48 strokes. Alyssa Amann from West Valley earned first with 58. After this performance, Ljubisic ranks third overall in the GNL with an average of 47 points. Amann is also first in the league with 54.     The Cheney High School boys golf team had a good showing at the first round of districts at MeadowWood Golf Course in Liberty Lake on May 7 as three golfers advanced to the second round. Tyler Koohns took second overall with 72 strokes for the Blackhawks. Eric Martin from Pullman was the only other competitor in front, hitting for 71 strokes.     With postseason competition on the horizon, the Cheney High School boys soccer team wrapped up the regular season last week with a 1-0 loss to West Valley on Tuesday, April 24, and a 2-1 loss to East Valley on Saturday, April 28.     The Horton-Strength Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 3386 in Airway Heights came up with an idea to help involve kids in the arts that would also decorate their building at 1307 Loffler St. The organization sent out a letter to surrounding schools that invited students to create murals to display outside their building.     Junior Thomas Baycroft represented Cheney High School well at the Palouse Ridge Invitational on April 12 by tying for first overall as an individual, with Jack Plaster from Gonzaga Prep with 72 strokes.
