  • The year 2017 was overall a good one for me

    Grace Pohl, Staff Intern|Updated Jan 4, 2018

Even though some people might think 2017 was not a great year, I did not think it was that bad. But I do have a lot to look forward to in the upcoming 2018 as well. In 2017, I was fortunate enough to continue school, have jobs that I love and enjoy time with my family. I was also able to check a few things off my bucket list. The biggest thing I was able to cross off was attending the Country Music Association (CMA) Festival in Nashville, Tenn. Every year my mom and I watch the event on television wishing we could be there. W...

  • Cooper Kupp's return to Washington was a success

    Grace Pohl, Staff Intern|Updated Dec 21, 2017

Even though the star wide receiver from Eastern Washington University may have not had as many receptions as he would’ve hoped, Cooper Kupp still found success on and off the field as he returned to the state of Washington against the Seattle Seahawks on Dec. 17. I was fortunate enough to be able to travel over the mountains last weekend to watch Kupp play again and I was not the only one to make the trip for the former Eagle. I wondered if I would be one of the only ones representing Kupp in a No. 18 Los Angeles Rams jersey,...

City Manager Albert Tripp and a representative from Storhaug Engineering were the only ones in attendance. But even with the light attendance, the meeting was straight forward and the board voted on recommendations to all of the rezones. The one rezone that caused most of the discussion at the last meeting was ZMA 2017-04. This includes 20-acres of land located in the northw...

  • 'Silent Night' tops the holiday season tune's list

    Grace Pohl, Staff Reporter|Updated Dec 14, 2017

The holiday season brings around the festive and catchy music of the year. Some radio stations dedicate the month of December to playing just Christmas songs and I am truly thankful for that because this is the only time of the year that we can listen to this type of music. So I will just be upfront and honest, my favorite Christmas song is “All I Want for Christmas is You” by Mariah Carey. You can judge all you want, but you can’t deny that it is super catchy and you can’t help but sing along to it. And there is always...

People in the West Plains area have a new opportunity this holiday season thanks to the Airway Heights Baptist Church located at 12322 West Sunset Highway across from Zip's. The church is transforming its building into the streets of Bethlehem on Dec. 22 from 6 – 9 p.m. It is not the typical nativity as it will be indoors and be interactive with hands-on experiences. "This is our first year doing it," Chris Bovey, a pastor at the church, said. "We sent out 5,000 flyers in Airw...

  • Tennessee fans did the right thing scaring Greg Schiano away

    Grace Pohl, Staff Intern|Updated Nov 30, 2017

I was enjoying my Sunday morning until I got a notification from ESPN that the University of Tennessee was about to hire Ohio State’s defensive coordinator Greg Schiano. Granted, I was happy about three Sundays ago after receiving a notification about Butch Jones being fired. But out of all the candidates that were being talked about in the media about being a possible coach for my Volunteers, this was the worst case scenario for me and I knew it wouldn’t be widely accepted across the fan base. Let’s give some backg...
