    The Cheney High volleyball team went 1-1 in Great Northern League matches this past week, first sweeping Clarkston, 3-0, on Sept. 13, then getting swept by West Valley, 3-0, Sept. 15. While Cheney defeated Clarkston in three sets (27-25, 25-14 and 27-25), the win was anything but easy.     The Cheney High girls’ soccer team continued their undefeated streak in Great Northern League play after a 3-2 win over Clarkston (Sept. 13) and a 3-0 shutout over West Valley two days later.     The Medical Lake City Council breezed through a quick Sept. 20 meeting that featured a light agenda. In action items, council approved an extension of countywide service contract with American Medical Response for 911 ambulance ground transport services. The agreement is good until June 30, 2020.     The city of Medical Lake continues its efforts to provide clean water to its residents, as well as lower its overall water usage. According to its most recent water quality and efficiency report, Medical Lake produced and purchased 286.7 million gallons of water in 2015. This is about a 3 percent increase from 2014 when the city pumped and also bought 280.07 million gallons. Although water production went up, consumption was slightly down.
